Using a small pick to create an initial hole helps, and is the best practice. Finally, insert the valve through the tape should be done carefully to make sure the tape doesn’t tear out from the valve hole. Similarly, making sure the tape is evenly applied across the rim channel, with just a few millimeters extending up onto the sidewalls of the channel will ensure a proper seal throughout. If there are wrinkles or places where the tape hasn’t adhered, this will likely result in larger issues later. Make sure the tape fully contacts the rim, do not leave a gap between the tape and the centermost part of the rim. When starting the tape be sure to start 1-2 spoke holes before the valve stem hole and end 1-2 spoke holes past the valve stem hole. We recommend wiping it down with isopropyl alcohol to ensure proper adhesion of the tape. You must make sure the rim surface is clean. Here are the most common setup mistakes or misconceptions that lead to larger issues or a bad experience. I will now probably win a 12 days of Christmas prize this year, hopefully the ENVE prize pack to further feed your theory of me being an ENVE troll. We see every mistake in the book when it comes to tubeless setups and most involve the taping of the rim and installation of the tire itself. I will forgive your accusation of a conspiracy theory and let you know that your comment will make me smile even more every time I ride my fat bike this winter with my new ENVE Alloy Mountain Stem.ĥ. I trully will refrain from sending shade ENVE's way because based on my DM interactions with them over the past 24hrs it sound like a place I would love to work and if my budgets ever permits will be sending them some business in the future.Ĥ. I think I am funny ( and so did atleast 1 person at ENVE)ģ. The ENVE marketing person following the launchof the ENVE Alloy Mountain Stem on PB thought I was funny and is sending me a stem.Ģ. You are not alone! My wife, kids, many of my friends and most of the PB comments section don't find me funny either. 35.0mm Weight 118g (35mm), 139g (50mm), 168g I am not an acttor but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express ( If anyone works at Holiday inn and will give me a free night stay DM me).The Enve Alloy Mountain Stem is designed to deliver a more affordable alternative to the Enve M6 & M7 Carbon Stems while at the same time giving you the rider, the confidence to ride without limitations. Finally, stainless steel hardware is used to achieve hard wearing durability without the risk of corrosion. Additionally, the Alloy Mountain Stem features blind bolt holes to prevent sharp edges and battered knees. To further perfect the pairing, the surfaces of the stem’s clamp area are refined to prevent damage to our M Series carbon handlebars. Given that stems and handlebars function as a team, the Alloy Mountain Stem's clamp width is designed to complement M Series carbon handlebars and their unique flex profiles. The result is an incredibly strong and reliable stem, at only a slight weight penalty to carbon, but lighter than most premium alloy stems on the market. To achieve this, each alloy stem is cold-forged, and then extensively machined. Our goal for the Alloy Mountain Stem was a product defined by strength, light-weight, ride quality and aesthetics that honor the art of machining aluminum while preserving as many of the performance benefits of our carbon M Series Handlebars. Accuracy, precision, and durability are key components to making an aluminum mold for carbon parts, and they just so happen to be the same ingredients required for making a premium grade aluminum mountain bike stem. In fact, we’ve been machining aluminum and steel long before we ever pulled a carbon part from a mold. The success of our carbon parts relies on our ability to precisely machine the aluminum and steel molds in which our carbon rims and components are made. We are carbon experts, but that doesn’t mean we don’t know our way around aluminum as well.
